The Alpha course with New Laigh Kirk
What is the point of life? What happens when we die? Is forgiveness possible? What relevance does Jesus have for our lives today? Looking for answers? Then try Alpha!
The Alpha course provides a fun, relaxed but informative introduction to the Christian faith. Each evening begins with a cup of coffee or tea, followed by a talk on an aspect of Christianity and then a discussion based on what has been said. Alpha is for people who have never investigated the Christian faith before and for those who used to believe and for Christians who want to go over the basics of their faith again. It is an opportunity to investigate, to ask questions and to meet new people.
I thought Alpha would tell me what l already knew, Jesus existed, he was a good man, doing good things that a few people wrote stories about. But I went anyway because I was intrigued as to what I would be told that I didn’t know already.
What I found was compelling evidence and historical truth that I’d never heard before, and there was so much time for discussion and sharing. So now if anyone tells me they’re thinking of going on Alpha I always say: ‘Go and ask loads of questions!’ You may just walk away at the end of it. But, you may find the thing in your life that you had no idea was missing.
Where can I attend the Alpha Course
There are no currently planned Alpha sessions
Every week at Alpha you will get to share coffee, tea and cakes with people on your table, hear a talk on an interesting topic and get the chance to discuss it in an open and honest manner, where no question is too simple or too hostile. It’s a great place to build friendships, some of which last beyond the course. If you are coming with friends you can choose to sit together; just let us know.
